High Tibial Osteotomy – Surgical Technique

Description

Valgus high tibial osteotomy (HTO) adjusting the mechanical alignment of the lower limb is a well-established treatment option for medial compartment osteoarthritis (OA) and varus malalignment in relatively young and active patients. With improvements in surgical implants and technique, the indications for HTO have evolved in recent years. HTO is now also used on a routine basis for a variety of different indications such as medial compartment overload, ligamentous insufficiency, and as a concomitant procedure in patients undergoing cartilage repair or meniscus transplantation. This video describes our approach, a medial opening wedge osteotomy HTO.
