Arthroscopic Trochleoplasty

Description

Trochleoplasty is presently suggested as a supplementary procedure to MPFL reconstruction in cases with patella instability and severe trochleae dysplasia. Trochleoplasty is traditionally performed as an open procedure. Recently an arthroscopic trochleoplasty technique has been described that utilised the Berieter throchleoplastik principle. With the Berieter technique the trochlea cartilage is release with a thin subchondral bone layer that makes the released cartilage flab so flexible that it can be modelled into a newly created trochleal sulcus.
