Relationship between CSA and fibril diameter of semitendinosus tendon

Description

The relationship between cross-sectional area on MRI images and collagen fibril diameter on microscopic images of semitendinosus tendons was investigated. The results showed a significant strong positive correlation between the two. These results suggest that MRI images can be used to predict collagen fibril diameter of semitendinosus tendons before surgery, and may help in the selection of the optimal autografts for prevention of postoperative re-injury in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
