Low Fear Avoidance in Injured Athletes with Strong Athletic Identities

Description

Adolescent athletes with stronger athletic identities had lower fear avoidance.  With increasing age during adolescence, athletic identity decreased and fear avoidance increased.  Early identification of injured adolescent athletes with strong athletic identity and low fear avoidance during rehabilitation may facilitate the development of return to sport criteria that more effectively considers the impact of psychological factors on re-injury prevention.
