Inferior PROM in arthroplasty patients following cartilage surgery

Description

In the present study, we compared the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) in 58 arthroplasty patients with a history of previous focal cartilage surgery to a matched cohort from the Norwegian Arthroplasty Register. The mean follow-up period from the arthroplasty surgery to the final KOOS score was 8 years. Patients with prior cartilage surgery who underwent knee arthroplasty experienced significantly and clinically meaningful lower KOOS subscores than the matched control group of knee arthroplasty patients at follow-up. They also had significantly lower odds of meeting the Patient Acceptable Symptom State (PASS) threshold for the KOOS sub-scores.
