Factors Associated with Additional Alignment Change in HTO

Description

Medial open wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO) is an effective treatment option for medial compartment osteoarthritis with varus deformity. Excessive overcorrection should be avoided to obtain favourable clinical outcomes. The possibility of unidentified factors affecting overcorrection remains. Furthermore, the methods used to roughly estimate the overcorrections associated with joint line convergence angles (JLCA) in previous studies tended to depend on personal experience. Therefore, a method for incorporating estimated JLCA changes that are patient-specific during preoperative planning is required. This study aims to analyse the factors associated with additional postoperative alignment changes after accurate bony correction by selecting only patients with well-performed bony correction as planned and develop a method of incorporating significant factors into preoperative planning.
