Early Sports Specialization as a Risk Factor for FAI

Description

Early sports specialization (ESS) in youth, particularly before age 12 and for over 8 months a year in a single sport, may increase FAI risk and subsequent early-onset osteoarthritis. This study examines if ESS contributes to FAI development and whether specific sports lead to particular FAI patterns, hypothesizing that earlier specialization and longer high-volume training are associated with FAI.
