Decreased Thigh Muscle Volume 5-Years following ACLR: a 3D MRI Model

Description

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction (ACLR) is considered to have excellent outcomes, including a reduction in subsequent knee surgery, meniscal/cartilage injury, and improved long-term activity level. However, ACL re-injury has a reported incidence of up to 28% in select populations. Existing literature has reported persistent muscle atrophy at long-term follow-up in patients who underwent ACLR with hamstring autograft. The aim of this study is to determine if long-term muscle volume discrepancies exist in ACLR patients with bone-patellar tendon-bone (BTB) autograft. We hypothesize ACLR with BTB autograft results in thigh muscle volume loss at 5-year follow up.
