ARTHROSCOPIC LIGAMENTUM TERES RECONSTRUCTION

Description

Severe trauma to the hip joint that results in fracture dislocation is a dramatic injury invariably accompanied by ligamentum teres (LT) rupture. Failure to repair the damaged structures can cause recurrent instability and subsequent osteoarthritis progression. Such injuries are often seen in young patients. Out of five male patients (age range: 29-35 years, average: 31) experiencing recurrent joint instability after acetabular fracture osteosynthesis, four underwent revision hip arthroscopy with LT reconstruction. All reported pain and popping/clicking symptoms. The reconstruction utilized a novel aiming device for graft positioning, while graft was prepared with harvested semitendinosus tendon and then secured with endobutton on the medial wall of the acetabulum and two PEEK screws in the femoral tunnel. The results were evaluated using mHHS, iHOT-12, and NPRS preoperatively, and at intervals of six months, one year, and two years post-operation.
