Allogenic Tissue-engineered Product for Cartilage Focal Lesions

Description

Chondral lesions are common in active young patients and can progress to osteoarthritis due to the poor regeneration capacity of articular cartilage. Clinical results obtained with current treatments are not satisfactory and new therapeutic approaches are needed.

Herein, it is proposed a new tissue engineering product (TEP) consisting of the combination of collagen type I/III scaffold seeded with allogeneic Wharton's jelly Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSC,WJ).

The study aims to evaluates the TEP manufacturing and biocompatibility and its safety, biodistribution and regeneration efficacy.
